Brilliantly Black Business Awards Recognize 10 Chicago Businesses

1-800-TruckWreck joined iHeartMedia Chicago and the Chicago Urban League to support the 2024 Brilliantly Black Business Awards, an initiative recognizing Black-owned businesses across Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana.

Community members nominated and voted for local businesses, resulting in 10 award recipients. Together, the winners received $100,000 in in-kind media exposure across iHeartMedia Chicago radio stations, as well as access to a small-business development cohort through the Chicago Urban League.

The Brilliantly Black initiative launched in 2020 as a community resource designed to increase awareness of Black-owned businesses, restaurants and nonprofit organizations. Through on-air features, digital content and related programming, the initiative has helped introduce Chicago audiences to local entrepreneurs and community resources.

The 2024 recipients represented a variety of industries, including professional services, retail, wellness, fashion, food products and maternal care. The participating iHeartMedia Chicago stations helped extend the businesses’ reach by providing promotional support and opportunities for greater public visibility.

Amy Witherite, owner of 1-800-TruckWreck, explained why supporting the awards aligns with the organization’s community-focused values.

“We are honored to partner with iHeartMedia Chicago to support the ‘Brilliantly Black Business Awards’ and shine a spotlight on the exceptional work Black business leaders are doing in the Chicago area and beyond,” Witherite said. “Supporting the communities we serve is a core value of our firm, and we’re happy to recognize minority business owners as they serve and improve the communities around them.”

The partnership reflects 1-800-TruckWreck’s continued commitment to supporting community initiatives and recognizing local business owners whose work contributes to Chicago’s economic and cultural landscape.
