Witherite Law Group Supports Free Youth Baseball Clinic in Chicago

Witherite Law Group and 1-800-TruckWreck helped bring a free youth baseball clinic to Chicago’s Near South Side, giving local children an opportunity to learn the game in an accessible and encouraging setting.

Held at Curtis Granderson Stadium, the clinic welcomed children ages 6–16 for baseball instruction led by volunteer coaches. Participants moved through drills focused on fundamental skills while gaining experience in a structured team environment.

More than 90 children participated in the clinic. Each participant received a baseball shirt, cap and glove provided by 1-800-TruckWreck, ensuring that children could take part even if they did not already own baseball equipment.

The clinic was part of the Joe Soto Baseball Experience, hosted by V103 personality Joe Soto. The initiative was designed to introduce children from underserved communities to baseball and give participants access to coaching, equipment and a welcoming place to develop their skills.

Youth sports programs can provide benefits that extend beyond physical activity. By participating in organized practices and drills, young people have opportunities to develop teamwork, communication, discipline and confidence. Events like this also give children a chance to interact with coaches and community volunteers who can provide guidance and encouragement.

Providing equipment was an important part of making the clinic accessible. Because each participant received a shirt, cap and baseball glove, children could take part without families having to purchase those items before the event. Participants could also continue practicing the skills introduced during the clinic after returning home.

The clinic gave children at different experience levels an opportunity to learn in the same supportive environment. Younger participants could become familiar with the fundamentals of baseball, while returning players could continue developing their skills through organized instruction. Bringing the clinic to Curtis Granderson Stadium also provided participants with a dedicated setting for learning, practicing and connecting with coaches and other young athletes.

CBS Chicago covered the event and highlighted the children’s participation in drills at Curtis Granderson Stadium. The broadcast also showed how community partnerships helped make the clinic and equipment available at no cost to participating families.

Witherite Law Group’s support of the Joe Soto Baseball Experience reflects the firm’s broader commitment to investing in the communities it serves. By working with 1-800-TruckWreck, V103 and local partners, the firm helped provide Chicago children with access to sports, equipment and positive community programming.
