‍Witherite Law Group Helps Provide 4,000 Backpacks to Oak Cliff Students

Witherite Law Group joined local organizations in supporting the 11th annual back-to-school festival at For Oak Cliff’s Community Campus. The event helped Dallas-area students prepare for the new school year with backpacks, school supplies, shoes and other resources for families.

Organizers distributed 4,000 backpacks filled with school supplies at no cost to participating families. The supplies were valued at approximately $65,000, helping parents manage some of the expenses associated with the start of a new school year.

The festival also introduced its first Shoesday giveaway. More than 100 families received $100 gift cards that could be used to purchase new shoes for their children.

In addition to the school-supply and shoe giveaways, the community event included food trucks, a children’s activity area and a job fair. Witherite Law Group served as one of the event sponsors.

Combining school supplies with shoes, employment resources and family activities allowed the festival to address several needs in one location. Parents could obtain classroom essentials for their children while also learning about community services and employment opportunities available in the Oak Cliff area.

The scale of the distribution was particularly significant. Supplying 4,000 students required coordination among event organizers, sponsors and volunteers, while the Shoesday component extended the event’s support to another major back-to-school expense. Together, the initiatives helped families prepare for the school year without absorbing the full cost of backpacks, supplies and footwear.

Amy Witherite highlighted the importance of supporting families throughout the surrounding Oak Cliff community.

“I really hope this event lifted up this community that is working so hard. If you missed getting a backpack for your kid, they’re going to be distributed in the 75216 area, whether that’s South Oak Cliff or Mark Twain. You can get your backpack there,” Witherite said.

The annual back-to-school festival reflects the continued work of Witherite Law Group and its community partners to help students begin the school year with essential supplies while reducing the financial pressure on local families.
