‍Great Atlanta Band Challenge Awards Funding to 10 High School Bands

Ten metro Atlanta high school bands received funding through the fourth annual Great Atlanta Band Challenge, an initiative supported by 1-800-TruckWreck and Witherite Law Group.

Forty high school bands participated in the community voting competition. The program gave Atlanta-area bands an opportunity to showcase their work while competing for financial support for instruments, uniforms, equipment, travel and other program expenses.

The three highest-ranking schools received the largest awards. Mundy’s Mill High School received $21,000, Stockbridge High School received $17,500 and North Clayton High School received $14,000. Seven additional bands among the top 10 received $2,500 each.

The additional recipients included South Cobb High School, Westlake High School, Creekside High School, Berkmar High School, Maynard Jackson High School, Columbia High School and Southwest DeKalb High School.

North Clayton High School received its award during a pep rally attended by Atlanta News First. According to the school’s band director, the funding would help the program purchase equipment and cover travel expenses associated with band competitions.

Amy Witherite, founder of Witherite Law Group and owner of 1-800-TruckWreck, recognized the participating schools and the community members who supported the competition.

“I commend all who participated and look forward to seeing how the winners utilize their awards to elevate their craft,” Witherite said.

The Great Atlanta Band Challenge reflects the continued commitment of 1-800-TruckWreck, Witherite Law Group and their community partners to supporting music education and expanding opportunities for Atlanta-area students.
